Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Group Therapy?

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy where one or more licensed therapists work with several clients at the same time. It allows members to express emotions, explore challenges, and develop healthier coping strategies while feeling understood and supported by others facing similar experiences.

Group sessions are confidential and respectful, creating a safe space for personal growth, healing, and empowerment.

Who Can Benefit from Group Therapy

Group therapy can be highly effective for individuals dealing with:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma and grief
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Addiction and recovery
  • Low self-esteem or loneliness
  • Major life changes
What Are the Types of Group Therapy?

Different groups serve different goals and client needs. Two main forms include:

1. Process-Oriented Groups

These groups focus on the interpersonal experiences within the group. Members explore how they relate to one another, gaining insight into their communication and emotional patterns. Over time, this leads to growth, increased self-awareness, and improved relationships.

2. Psychoeducational Groups

These groups are structured around specific topics such as anxiety management, coping skills, or cognitive behavioral techniques. The therapist plays a more instructional role, teaching practical tools and guiding skill building exercises.

How Group Therapy Works

Group therapy typically consists of up to 8–12 participants who meet weekly for 60–90 minutes. Sessions are guided by a licensed therapist who facilitates discussion, maintains structure, and ensures a respectful and confidential environment.

Groups can be:

  • Open groups: New members may join at any time.
  • Closed groups: The same participants meet for a fixed number of sessions.

All participants are expected to respect confidentiality, maintaining a safe and private atmosphere where genuine healing can take place.

Do you offer evening or weekend sessions?

Yes, we offer flexible scheduling including evening and weekend groups to fit your lifestyle.

Is online group therapy as effective as in-person sessions?
